Maiensäss

A Maiensäss is a farm in the Swiss mountains including a very small living house and a stable. A Maiensäss is only used in spring and summer to look after the cattle and to produce cheese, Located on an altitude between 1200 and 1600 meters above sea level. Usually, a Maiensass does not have electricity or water on tap and can only be reached by foot. Everything which is needed is carried up in spring and back down in late summer.
